Classrooms at Mayer Centre Preschool, Monduli, Tanzania
p1

This project constructed two classrooms at the Mayer's Pre-primary School at the Mayer's Centenary Memorial Centre in Monduli Chini in the Arusha Archdiocese of Tanzania. Funds were provided by the Koch Foundation, Inc. The Centre is administered by the St. Ann Sisters. The school at the Mayer's Centenary Memorial Centre was blessed on January 5, 2012.

Those initially served by this project are one hundred and fifty children attending class at the school. Among these children, sixty are orphans. Most of the children are from the Masai tribe of Tanzania.

The Missionary Sisters of St. Ann strive to build a firm religious foundation in the lives of children. They give these children a good start in acquiring positive moral values as well as a beginning to their secular education.

The loving care and attention provided these children introduce them to core values taught by Jesus: to love God and to love neighbor as oneself.

Introducing bible stories to these children at a formative period in their lives is allowing God's word to become deeply rooted in their hearts and minds and prepare them well for life. The caring environment at the school and the poignant stories of Jesus provide a value-filled experience for these children. Instilling attitudes of love and fulfillment leads children to a rich Catholic disposition.

A firm foundation in the Catholic faith is taking root in the lives of these children. Children are taught how to pray, talk to and listen to God speaking to them. Children learn bible stories that guide and direct them in Christian living.

Children are being taught disciplines that discourage their deviation from core Catholic beliefs and that will help them to keep fundamental Gospel values at the center of their lives.

The Mayer's Pre-primary School at the Mayer's Centenary Memorial Centre plans to add additional classrooms each year as children progress from pre-primary into primary school. Support of the school and its expansion will be supported from charitable foundations and other benefactors of the St. Ann Sisters.
